10 Months Old!

Well... Benjamin has hit some great strides since the last time I posted. He is now crawling at an amazing pace. It all started with some "butt-scooting." Now, he's all-out crawling.

Another milestone... Benjamin now has 4 teeth!! They just came through like mad!!

And... he's in swim lessons & loves them. We have only 1 week left of them.

That's all for this short post... but enjoy some videos!!

Nearly 9 Months!!

Well - in a few short days - Benjamin will be 9 months old!! It's so crazy to believe that it was that long ago that I was holding the little cuddly baby in my arms!

It seems like a lot has happened since the last time I posted to the blog. Benjamin has been working hard on learning new things.

His tooth has completely broken through the gums and is about halfway out!!

He's clapping and waving!! It's so fun to see him wave "goodbye" to us when we leave him at daycare. And - he loves to shake his head no & nod yes... but never in a way to tell us yes or no. I'm sure he'll get that soon!

He's also quite the climber. If we're sitting on the floor or on the couch with him in our arms - he's everywhere. He pulls himself up, lunges himself forward, and climbs all over us! His newest thing is flinging himself backward. So - we have to be careful he doesn't do this when we're carrying him!!

Another thing he's mastered - sitting up in his crib, especially when he doesn't want to nap. He did this several times Saturday when I tried to lay him down for his afternoon nap. He pulled himself right up to sitting... little stinker!!

He's still eating like a champ!! He loves to feed himself - so we're stocking up on the puffs!! I tried to give him some diced sweet potatoes over the weekend - and they got pretty mushy and we ended up just feeding them to him!
I should also add that my very good friend at work, Brian, is now a Dad!! His wife, Traci, gave birth to twins last Wednesday. Noah & Sarah are still in the hospital in the NICU as they were 6 weeks (to the day) early. We're praying for them to keep growing and eating well!!

Well - I better get to work!!

A Quick Update

Just a quick update - after Benjamin's meeting with Parents as Teachers. Ben is right on track for his developmental milestones. She is very impressed with all that he is doing. And, she gave us some great ideas for toys. Also included in the meetings - what we can expect in the coming months!

Now - this morning - I'm going to call and get him signed up for swimming lessons!! So excited!

Holy Cow!! I'm WAY Behind!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!

Hey all!! I just realized that I have not posted in a very long time. That's what happens when you're living life.

Well... here's a quick update! Benjamin has been sitting up on his own since about November 15th. He absolutely loves it and it's nice because he's content just sitting on the floor with his toys. Sometimes... he doesn't even need a toy ;)

He made it through the holidays with a big dose of family and fun!! He got way too many presents ;) That's part of being the first child! Eric says - no more toys!!! We did a lot of traveling and he did well - for the most part!! We got to see all sets of grandparents, both sets of parents and all siblings!! So, it was a very successful holiday! And, we made it on the roads - safe and sound!!

Benjamin is still eating like a champ! He loves his cereal, fruits & veggies. He's still a big fan of the fruits... and orange vegetables. Green... a little skeptical. He likes green beans, but only out of the jar and not when I make them! And, he's not a fan of peas!

This last month - he's been working on cutting his first tooth. I can see it gracing the surface of his gums! So, I'm sure it'll be completely through, soon.

He's also working on crawling. Sunday night Eric told me he was rocking back and forth on his hands and knees. And, when we stayed at Chris & Sara's on Saturday night, I found him trying to sit up from laying on his belly in the pack & play!! So - it will happen very soon!

Yesterday - I took Benjamin to the eye doctor for an exam. They say everything looks normal and his development is right on par. Tonight - it's a Parents as Teachers meeting. So, she'll tell us if he's on track for his developmental milestones.

And - lastly - if you didn't get a Christmas card from us - this was what was included... Benjamin being naughty...

And... nice!!!

Hope your holidays were great!!

Wow - I'm behind again!

Well... now that Benjamin is 5 months old - I suppose I should catch you all up!!

At the end of September Benjamin had his first session with Parents as Teachers. The school district sends someone to our house 6 times throughout the school year and they make sure he's hitting all of his developmental milestones. That night, she said he only has one thing left to do to be on target: roll over. Lo and behold - 24 hours later he rolled from back to tummy! We were so proud of him!! Don't mind his nakedness... but this is video of the 2nd time that day :)

Then, Eric & I went to Vegas for our friends wedding. That was Oct. 10th. Grandpa & Grandma Fedeler watched Benjamin while we were there. That weekend - he rolled from back to belly. He did that regularly for a while - but he's stopped doing it so much now!!

Now - on to the next milestone. When we got home from Vegas, we decided to start Benjamin on cereal. We started with rice cereal and he wasn't a big fan. So, we moved on to oatmeal cereal, and he liked that better!

So - yesterday we started him on fruits/veggies. His first food - avocado. He actually really liked it. They (books I've read) say it's a good first food because of the healthy fats. And, if you can get them to like that - they're likely to like other green foods! He chomped it right down!!
And - the final picture for today - Benjamin is a "Lil Stinker." This is his Halloween costume handed down from the guy that works for Eric. Ben will be a skunk for Halloween!! Well, back to Mommy duties! Take care and keep checking in. I'll try to be better about keeping you all up to date!

Oh My... I'm Slacking!!

So, I just realized that it has been ages since I've updated this. It's been a little crazy in the Sanderson household! Benjamin is growing up so much. He had his 4 month checkup yesterday and everything is looking great.

He weighs 15 lbs, 4 oz; is 25 inches long; and his head is 16 inches. With those measurements... he's right in the 50th percentile!! As you can see from the photo above - he's a little chunker with those cute baby rolls!!

Ben has been really growing up. He's now cooing, giggling and rolling onto his side. He's also bringing everything that he can to his mouth. He is definitely a blanket boy. He loves to pull his blanket into his mouth - and fall asleep with it rubbing his face. He's also starting to grab his feet!! I love that!!

We were lucky enough to make it home for TWO Hawkeye football games. The first one, Grandma & Grandpa Sanderson spent the day with Benjamin. The second one, Benjamin stayed with Grandma Fedeler, Emma & Kendrick.

Well, nothing else really new - except Benjamin's baptism is this weekend. We're looking forward to a weekend filled with family fun. My Grandma is coming along with my parents. Eric's grandparents were set to come down for the event, but his Grandpa is having severe back pains.
I'll try to update this better. It's just been hard with all of the extra hours at work!
